The Hotel Business Act was amended at December 13, 2023

to keep accommodations comfortable for Lodgers and Hoteliers

The Hotel Business Act provides that the Hotelier must not deny a person lodging except in the cases specified in the Act.
However, the Hotelier said that, in the pandemic of Covid-19, they were not able to:

・request Lodgers to provide practical cooperation the necessary cooperation to prevent the spread of infection; and
・provide to Lodgers appropriate services such as measures to prevent the spread of infection due to Lodgers who make demands to the hotelier that have the risk of imposing an excessive burden on the hotelier.

For such situations, the Act partially amending the Hotel Business Act and other Acts to Develop a Business Environment to Support the Continued Business Activities of Business with Operations related to the Environmental Health Industry, etc. was established and come into effect at December 13, 2023.
