Summary

• Now a large number of workers are engaged in tasks to restore the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant from the nuclear accident.
• Because of concern about health impairment due to exposure to radiation, the action plan was prepared by the Government on May 2011 to construct the database that allows the long-term tracking of radiation exposure doses of all workers who have been engaged in the emergency work, including after they left the job, for the long-term health care.
• In response to the policy, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare set up the expert meeting on the long-term health care of workers at the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant on June 2011. The expert meeting, consisting of experts, met twice for discussion so far.
• It identified items to be included in the database and formulated a general policy for long-term health care based on discussions in the expert meeting as a grand design.
• Discussions on the long-term health care will be continued, and formulated as a report.
