A round-the-clock health care system was established at the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant

We requested that the Japan Labour Health and Welfare Organization*1 dispatch medical doctors to be engaged in health care of workers at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. As a result, a round-the-clock health care system where medical doctors are available at any time has been established. See the Attachment for details.

Summary

  • Now a large number of workers are engaged in tasks to recover from the nuclear accident at the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
  • We requested that the Japan Labour Health and Welfare Organization*1 dispatch medical doctors to establish a round-the-clock health care system where medical doctors are available at anytime at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
  • Medical doctors from Rosai hospitals (hospitals for laborers) will be dispatched in addition to those who have been dispatched from the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan*2, which allows the establishment of the round-the-clock health care system.

*1: It operates 30 Rosai hospitals countrywide.

*2: They started the dispatch from 15 May 2011 in response to the request from TEPCO.
