1. Appropriate response to foreigners job applicants

Efforts to enhance the employment service and counseling available to foreign job applicants are being conducted by Employment Service Section for Foreign Workers. With interpreters in the Hello Work facilities, as well as Employment Service Center for Foreigners (Tokyo and Osaka) to deal exclusively with foreign students and foreigners in professional or technical fields, and Nikkeijin Employment Service Centers (Tokyo and Aichi) to provide services to foreign workers of Japanese descent. In addition, the Japan-Brazil Employment Service Center was established in Brazil to serve as a local counseling office. The center provides official information on job vacancies, in order to prevent troubles occurred from intervention of illegal brokers.

2. Enlightening and guiding employers and providing employment management assistance to employers

The Guidelines Concerning Employment and Working Conditions for Foreign Workers have been formulated and based on these guidelines, we give guidance to employers who employ foreign workers employment management. As part of this effort, the Foreign Worker Employment Management Adviser System has been established to provide counseling and assistance related to employment management and working life, and Foreign Worker Employment Management Seminars are being held as a source of necessary information and collective guidance to improve employment management for foreign workers. Also, to improve employment management of foreign workers of Japanese descent who work in small and medium enterprises, an initiative to "a program to Improve Employment Management of foreign workers of Japanese Descent" is being implemented. In addition, every June, the One-month Campaign on Foreign Workers' Affairs is held as a campaign to promote deeper understanding and further cooperation among the general public with respect to foreign workers' issues.

3. Grasping employment conditions of foreign workers

Based on the "System for Reporting on the Employment Situation of Foreigners," information on employment condition of foreign workers in regional areas is acquired and utilized to promote employment stability and improvement of employment management of foreign workers.

4. Promotion of legal employment

To promote proper employment among foreign workers, we enlighten information and guide employers, etc. We also strengthen close relationships with relevant administrative organizations in order to deal with the conditions that the number of illegal foreign workers remains high level. Furthermore, we hold seminars in the home countries of many illegal foreign workers, where we explain our policies and systems about accepting foreigners.

5. Information collection concerning international migration in Asia

Policy makers and experts in Asian countries gather at meetings to exchange views on and get information about trends in International Migration and labor market in Asia.
