Start of a weekly on-site consultation desk to address health matters of decommissioning workers, etc.

- Open once a week starting from the 8th of July. Consultation service is also available for employers regarding provision of health support for workers. -

Based on the rapidly increasing numbers of heatstroke victims that occurs every summer, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare will be opening a weekly on-site health support consultation desk available from 8 July 2016 at the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (hereinafter referred to as the “Power Plant”) or J-Village so that all employees working at the Power Plant, including subcontractors, can informally receive health consultations and health support consultations (the actual location of the desk at each site will differ weekly according to an announced schedule).

This on-site consultation desk will be established in cooperation with the Japan Organization of Occupational Health and Safety to address the need to strengthen the health management for on-site workers, as there are many cases of employees who are working on decommissioning, etc. at the Power Plant who become sick during or outside of work hours, and suffer from their own individual health problems.

At this on-site consultation desk, advice can be offered to workers on concerns regarding health and radiation, and advice can also be offered to employers regarding provision of health support for workers from doctors of the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan and the Fukushima Rosai (Labourers’) Hospital.
