1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in July 2004 were 391,643 yen decreased by 0.4%.

Contractual cash earnings were 272,113 yen decreased by 0.2% and scheduled cash earnings were 253,439 yen decreased by 0.6%.

Real wage index was decreased by 0.2%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in July 2004 were 155.3 hours decreased by 0.6% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 15.8 hours increased by 8.0% and its seasonally adjusted figure decreased by 2.1% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in July 2004 were increased by 0.5% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 0.7%, part-time employees were increased by 4.9%.
