1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in May 2004 were 275,323 yen decreased by 0.6%.

Contractual cash earnings were 269,736 yen decreased by 0.9% and scheduled cash earnings were 251,307 yen decreased by 1.3%.

Real wage index was decreased by 0.1%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in May 2004 were 143.9 hours decreased by 4.3% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 15.1 hours increased by 9.1% and its seasonally adjusted figure increased by 1.9% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in May 2004 were increased by 0.3% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.5%, part-time employees were increased by 7.1%.
