1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in April 2004 were 280,545 yen increased by 0.1%.

Contractual cash earnings were 274,597 yen same as the same month of the previous year and scheduled cash earnings were 255,129 yen decreased by 0.3%.

Real wage index was increased by 0.7%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in April 2004 were 158.4 hours increased by 2.0% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 16.2 hours increased by 9.2% and its seasonally adjusted figure decreased by 0.9% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in April 2004 were increased by 0.5% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.3%, part-time employees were increased by 7.1%.
