1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in March 2003 were 298,682 yen decreased by 1.1%.

Contractual cash earnings were 279,121 yen increased by 0.1% and scheduled cash earnings were 260,099 yen decreased by 0.3%.

Real wage index was decreased by 0.8%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in March 2003 were 150.7 hours increased by 0.2% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 15.1 hours increased by 14.4% and its seasonally adjusted figure was increased by 0.3% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in March 2003 were decreased by 0.6% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.3%, part-time employees were increased by 2.1%.
