1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in February 2003 were 280,735 yen decreased by 0.1%.

Contractual cash earnings were 278,499 yen same as the same month of the previous year and scheduled cash earnings were 259,856 yen decreased by 0.3%.

Real wage index was increased by 0.2%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in February 2003 were 150.6 hours decreased by 0.3% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 14.7 hours increased by 15.8% and its seasonally adjusted figure was decreased by 1.8% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in February 2003 were decreased by 0.7% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.4%, part-time employees were increased by 1.5%.
