1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in September 2002 were 281,456 yen decreased by 1.2%.

Contractual cash earnings were 277,960 yen decreased by 1.0% and scheduled cash earnings were 260,538 yen decreased by 1.2%.

Real wage index was decreased by 0.4%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in September 2002 were 151.6 hours decreased by 0.7% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 14.2 hours increased by 12.7% and its seasonally adjusted figure was decreased by 0.1% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in September 2002 were decreased by 0.7% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 2.1%, part-time employees were increased by 3.9%.
