1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in August 2002 were 300,528 yen decreased by 3.0%.

Contractual cash earnings were 277,805 yen decreased by 0.9% and scheduled cash earnings were 260,331 yen decreased by 1.1%.

Real wage index was decreased by 2.1%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in August 2002 were 148.7 hours decreased by 0.2% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 13.3 hours increased by 10.2% and its seasonally adjusted figure was increased by 0.5% from the previous month..

3 Employment

Regular employees in August 2002 were decreased by 0.8% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.9%, part-time employees were increased by 3.3%.
