1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in December 2001 were 646,884 yen decreased by 3.7%.

Contractual cash earnings were 281,869 yen decreased by 1.2% and scheduled cash earnings were 263,983 yen decreased by 0.5%.

Real wage index was decreased by 2.3%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in December 2001 were 153.2 hours decreased by 2.0% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 12.2 hours decreased by 17.5% and its seasonally adjusted figure was increased by 0.1% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in December 2001 were decreased by 0.3% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.2%, part-time employees were increased by 3.2%.
