1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in September 2001 were 284,368 yen decreased by 1.2%.

Contractual cash earnings were 280,271 yen decreased by 1.4% and scheduled cash earnings were 263,224 yen decreased by 0.8%.

Real wage index was decreased by 0.4%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in September 2001 were 152.3 hours decreased by 1.9% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 12.2 hours decreased by 14.0% and its seasonally adjusted figure was decreased by 2.4% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in September 2001 were decreased by 0.2% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.0%, part-time employees were increased by 3.2%.
