1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in August 2001 were 309,359 yen decreased by 2.0%.

Contractual cash earnings were 280,303 yen decreased by 1.1% and scheduled cash earnings were 263,121 yen decreased by 0.7%.

Real wage index was decreased by 1.4.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in August 2001 were 148.6 hours decreased by 0.7% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 11.7 hours decreased by 11.4% and its seasonally adjusted figure was decreased by 1.1% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in August 2001 were decreased by 0.2% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.0%, part-time employees were increased by 3.5%.
