(4) Foetal mortality

With regard to trends in foetal deaths and foetal death rates, foetal deaths decreased after the peak in 1958 and have been recently remaining in the 30,000 range.

Although foetal death rates unusually changed in 1966 due to the decrease in births, they have been on a downward trend since 1961 (Figure 8).

Observing the percent distribution of foetal deaths by type of extraction, according to the age group of the mother, the proportion of artificial foetal deaths among the age groups of 35 and over declined from 2001 to 2006 (Figure 9).
