1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in August 2004 were 290,053 yen increased by 0.2%.

Contractual cash earnings were 270,462 yen decreased by 0.4% and scheduled cash earnings were 252,030 yen decreased by 0.8%.

Real wage index was increased by 0.5%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in August 2004 were 148.0 hours increased by 1.7% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 15.3 hours increased by 6.7% and its seasonally adjusted figure increased by 1.0% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in August 2004 were increased by 0.6% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 0.5%, part-time employees were increased by 4.6%.
