1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in September 2003 were 282,244 yen increased by 0.4%.

Contractual cash earnings were 278,751 yen increased by 0.3% and scheduled cash earnings were 260,535 yen same as the same month of the previous year.

Real wage index was increased by 0.6%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in September 2003 were 152.7 hours increased by 0.7% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 15.1 hours increased by 6.4% and its seasonally adjusted figure decreased by 1.4% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in September 2003 were decreased by 0.4% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.1%, part-time employees were increased by 2.5%.
