1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in July 2003 were 401,724 yen decreased by 1.9%.

Contractual cash earnings were 278,476 yen same as the same month of the previous year and scheduled cash earnings were 260,435 yen decreased by 0.2%.

Real wage index was decreased by 1.6%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in July 2003 were 157.5 hours decreased by 0.4% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 14.7 hours increased by 6.5% and its seasonally adjusted figure increased by 1.1% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in July 2003 were decreased by 0.6% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.4%, part-time employees were increased by 2.5%.
