1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in June 2003 were 481,998 yen increased by 2.5%.

Contractual cash earnings were 279,301 yen increased by 0.2% and scheduled cash earnings were 261,439 yen same as the same month of the previous year.

Real wage index was increased by 3.0%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in June 2003 were 157.9 hours increased by 1.1% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 14.3 hours increased by 8.3% and its seasonally adjusted figure decreased by 1.1% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in June 2003 were decreased by 0.6% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.1%, part-time employees were increased by 1.0%.
