1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in July 2002 were 409,738 yen decreased by 5.4%.

Contractual cash earnings were 278,388 yen decreased by 1.4% and scheduled cash earnings were 261,151 yen decreased by 1.4%.

Real wage index was decreased by 4.6%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in July 2002 were 158.1 hours increased by 0.7% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 13.8 hours increased by 8.1% and its seasonally adjusted figure was increased by 3.4% from the previous month..

3 Employment

Regular employees in July 2002 were decreased by 0.7% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 2.0%, part-time employees were increased by 4.1%.
