1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in April 2002 were 287,474 yen decreased by 1.7%.

Contractual cash earnings were 281,122 yen decreased by 1.4% and scheduled cash earnings were 262,582 yen decreased by 1.3%.

Real wage index was decreased by 0.5%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in April 2002 were 157.0 hours decreased by 0.9% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 13.5 hours decreased by 2.7% and its seasonally adjusted figure was increased by 4.3% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in April 2002 were decreased by 0.4% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.7%, part-time employees were increased by 5.0%.
