1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in June 2000 were 490,031 yen increased by 1.8% compared with a year earlier .

Contractual cash earnings were 283,794 yen increased by 0.6% and scheduled cash earnings were 265,576 yen increased by 0.3%.

Real wage index was increased by 2.6%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in June 2000 were 160.3 hours increased by 0.7% compared with a year earlier.

Scheduled hours worked were 150.8 hours increased by 0.5%.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 13.5 hours increased by 15.5% and its seasonally adjusted figure was increased by 1.1% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in June 2000 were decreased by 0.2% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.1%, part-time employees were increased by 3.5%.

Regular employees of major industries were as follows:decreased by 1.6% in Manufacturing, decreased by 1.3% in Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Places, and increased by 1.9% in Services.
