II. Number of survivors at specified ages and the median length of life

In the abridged life tables for 2001, the number of survivors at age 65 is 85,105 for males and 92,808 for females in a stationary population supported by 100,000 annual live births. These facts lead that the survival ratio until age 65 is 85.1% for males and 92.8% for females. In the same way, it follows that the survival ratio until age 80 is 53.5% for males and 75.3% for females.
The median length of life, which means the age of exactly half the cohort still remaining alive, is 81.08 years for males and 87.72 years for females.
