Abridged Life Tables for Japan, 1999

II. Life expectancies at specified ages

The abridged life tables for 1999 were constructed based on the population estimates as of October 1, 1999, which we prepared based on the data and the method of Statistics Bureau, Management and Coordination Agency, and the provisional annual vital statistics report in 1999 prepared by Statistics and Information Department, Minister's Secretariat, Ministry of Health and Welfare.

In the abridged life tables for 1999, the life expectancy at birth for males is 77.10 years, decreased by 0.06 years as compared with the previous year, and that for females is 83.99 years, decreased by 0.02 years.

Life expectancies at specified ages for males and females decreases at every age. The difference in life expectancy between males and females is 6.89 years, 0.04 years longer than that of the previous year.
