II@Basic Principles Applied to the Formation of Collective Opinions

@Reproductive treatment using donor sperms, eggs and embryo offers couples who are unable to conceive due to infertility a chance to have a child.@When forming a collective view of what reproductive treatment should be, it is necessary to coordinate a range of values.@Although the way in which to do this should be considered separately for each item, this special committee agreed on its basic principle as follows:

Priority shall be given to the welfare of the children to be born.
The human body shall not be treated merely as the means of reproduction.
Careful consideration shall be given to safety.
The concept of eugenics shall be eliminated.
Commercialism in reproduction shall be eliminated.
Human dignity shall be respected.
