These are a collection of typical cases in the past where the import cargo was found to violate the Food Sanitation Law on the occasion of the import consultation that was held prior to the import.

* 1:
Beverage must be sterilized after being filled into a container and capped or sealed hermetically; or must be capped or sealed hermetically after being sterilized in a sterilizer or other equipment with an automatic thermometer or after being disinfected by a filter or other equipment and automatically filled into a container.

In these cases, sterilization or disinfection must be conducted following the instruction below (refer Notification No. 370 of the Ministry of Health and Welfare).
Neither sterilization nor disinfection is necessary for the beverage that has a carbon dioxide pressure of 98kPa or higher at 20KC inside the container and does not contain any plant or animal tissue materials.

* 2:
Mineral waters must be sterilized after being filled into a container and capped or sealed hermetically; or must be capped or sealed hermetically after being sterilized in a sterilizer or other equipment with an automatic thermometer or after being disinfected by a filter or other equipment and automatically filled into a container.

* 3:
Food may not be irradiated during its manufacturing or processing. This regulation, however, does not apply to the cases when irradiation is made during the procedures of food manufacturing or food processing in order to manage the food manufacturing or food processing and the absorbed dose is 0.10 Gy or less, or when the irradiation is specially designated in the items in the each article of gDh in the Notification No. 370 of the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

* 4:
Any meat or internal organ, or processed products of these items (meat products) of livestock animals and poultry may not be imported for the purpose of sale or use in business without attachment of a copy or a photocopy of Health Certificate that is issued by a governmental organization of the exporting country, indicates that the product is not meat or internal organ, or products processed from of these items of a livestock animal or poultry that has, is suspected to have, or died from the disease designated in Article 5, Item 1 of the Food Sanitation Law of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and contains all the information designated by the Ordinances of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
