1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in March 2004 were 284,858 yen decreased by 2.9%.

Contractual cash earnings were 273,463 yen decreased by 0.2% and scheduled cash earnings were 254,116 yen decreased by 0.4%.

Real wage index was decreased by 2.7%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in March 2004 were 156.0 hours increased by 4.3% compared with a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 16.5 hours increased by 9.7% and its seasonally adjusted figure increased by 0.3% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in March 2004 were decreased by 0.1% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.7%, part-time employees were increased by 6.6%.
