The proportion of children visiting medical institutions for decayed teeth rose from the previous survey.

In the breakdown of illnesses and injuries of subjects who visited hospitals or clinics over the past year, "cold, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia" accounted for the largest percentage, 77.9%, though lower than in the 3rd survey. The rate of "digestive diseases including gastroenteritis, diarrhoea, stomach ache, constipation" also dropped to 13.7%, while the percentage of "decayed teeth" rose from 7.0% in the 3rd survey to 17.9% in the 4th (Table 11).
